RECOGNIZING THE ENEMY THRU GOD’S TRUTH – PART 2 ACTION!
Hey There Spiritual Warrior and Speaker of God’s Truth!
Last week I started this series on Recognizing Enemy #1 – Satan so you would know who he is and what his sole intention is towards you! I gave some history of one of the three Archangels, Lucifer (now Satan/Devil), and why and how he was cast out of heaven into this world. I felt this was important for a better understanding of who he is because he’s not a character with a red suit and horns in his head. It’s now time to introduce you to how you fight against this Enemy #1.
Satan, aka the Devil, is around all the time – he works through people we know and those we don’t. He comes only to steal, kill and destroy in any way he can. The more he has your thoughts and your soul, the more he wins. My imagination shows me that he’s sitting back stretched out in a comfy chair with a huge smile on his face saying “I got her now!” Not any more he doesn’t!
He’s a liar and a thief to the highest degree and if you don’t know him, he’ll continue to steal from you the rest of your life and you may even meet up with him in the “red zone.” Like my football metaphor? I’m a big football fan so the “red zone” was the first phrase that came to mind. Anyway, if you’re a believer, you definitely won’t be meeting up with satan in the “red zone” after you’re gone from this earth, BUT that doesn’t stop him from doing everything he can to make sure you have an unfulfilled and difficult life while you’re here. This is exactly where I don’t want you to be. I want you to learn what you have to combat this evil spirit. And what I’m about to share with you is God’s Truth and my truth from the experiences of exercising God’s Power, Authority and Armor that he gives freely.
So, what is ACTION? One of the few definitions from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word as “speaker’s deportment or expression by means of attitude, voice, and gesture.” Action It’s this definition that is exactly how I’m encouraging you to fight against the enemy. It’s making a move, speaking directly to satan, Enemy #1, with the Truth of who you are and who he is.
You MUST fight this spiritual fight with the power, authority and the armor that God has given you for satan to flee. Listen, this isn’t just say/do something once and he flees forever. Oh no…. he never stops coming after you – new level, new devil, as Joyce Meyer would say. The more he knows you no longer fall for his lies and deceit the more he must work harder than he did before. And you can be rest assured that those days when you’re overly tired, stressed, emotionally weak, he’s going to be right there on your shoulder to make your day an unhappy and difficult one at every chance he gets.
Where we are today is learning to take ACTION! And I don’t mean a little, soft and sweet action, I mean hard core, bold ACTION that only You can do!
Here’s the thing, as I’ve said before, God has given you Power and Authority over Enemy #1 – Satan. Satan has this same power God has, BUT he doesn’t have the authority and it’s this authority that God has given you where satan MUST flee!
“I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
Luke 10:19
This alone can and will change your life. Let’s not stop there because there’s one more gift God has given you – his Armor. Ephesians 6 is where we’re given details of his armor along with knowledge that we are in a spiritual warfare, not a physical one, against the “spiritual forces of evil” and it’s God’s Armor that provides protection that covers every inch of who we are:
- Breastplate of Righteousness
- Shoes of Peace
- Shield of Faith
- Helmet of Salvation
- Belt of Truth
- Sword of the Word
Note: Priscilla Shirer has a great Bible study on the Armor of God. It’s worth doing by yourself or with a group. You can find her book on Amazon. Please note that I do have an affiliate account with Amazon and may receive a commission from this link. Armor of God Bible Study
I can’t stress enough, you must SPEAK, and preferably out loud! Years ago I went and saw Joyce Meyer for the first time in Long Beach, California. It was there where I learned a phrase that I still speak today whenever I sense the enemy is near: “I’m the righteousness of God in Christ, I am forgiven, I am blessed and I am his child. Devil get the hell out. You’re not wanted here, you’re a liar and a thief. In the name of Jesus!” Seriously, I say this all the time – I yell and sometimes I whisper (depends on where I am). The more you speak, the more comfortable you’ll become. Speak with confidence AND authority of who You are in Christ!
